The Pershing GTX90 is the newest member of the GTX range, which the yard calls its Sport Utility Yachts. At 27.97 metres (91 ft 9 in) long with a 6.89-metre beam, she takes the range into the 90 to 100-foot class. The project was first shown at boot Düsseldorf, and the first hull was launched at the port of Fano with the designers from Vallicelli Design, responsible for both exterior and interior, in attendance.

She is the work of Vallicelli Design and Ferretti Group's Engineering Department. Construction began at the Group's Plug and Mould facility and was completed in the new Mondolfo production area where the GTX range is built. Spread over two decks and a sportbridge, she sleeps eight guests in four cabins.

Exterior and aft cockpit

The styling keeps the range's family traits: a continuous, slightly convex sheer line running from bow to stern and a near-vertical bow. The hull comes in Pershing's classic Anniversary Silver.

Aft, a raised cockpit is designed to bring guests closer to the water. Two side terraces fold down to put the yacht's widest point in the cockpit, taking the deck area there to 37 m². This is what sets her apart from earlier GTX models: with the terraces open, maximum beam is in the cockpit. There is a large sunpad with stowage beneath for two Seabobs, and a lounge in the shade of the superstructure, furnished on the first hull with a forward-facing sofa and two coffee tables.

A double garage in the cockpit is a first for GTX models under 100 feet. It holds a Williams 395 SportJet tender and a Sea-Doo Spark Trixx personal watercraft.

Main deck and sportbridge

The saloon is entered through a wide five-panel door, one fixed and four opening, so that cockpit and saloon can be used as a single space. The saloon makes the most of the widebody superstructure. To port is a bar counter with three stools, fitted with fridges, an ice maker and a dishwasher; opposite is a dining table for eight. A day head is optional. The first hull has a large C-shaped sofa amidships; the project specification lists an L-shaped sofa or two separate sofas as alternatives.

The helm is forward on the main deck, with three pilot seats and access to both side decks. An electrically operated skylight is available on request. The foredeck has a sunpad and a dinette with an electric rise-and-fall table; lowered, the table turns the two areas into one sunbathing space.

The sportbridge measures 33 m², which the yard says is 43 per cent more than the average for yachts of this size. It is arranged in three zones: sunbathing aft, a dinette with two large sofas under a generous hardtop amidships, and a central helm forward with three pilot seats and two control consoles with azimuth levers.

Cabins and crew

The lower deck has four cabins, each with its own bathroom. The full-beam master suite is amidships and the VIP cabin is forward. Of the two guest cabins, one has a double bed and the other two singles. The crew have two double cabins with private bathrooms and direct access to the main galley, so service runs separately from the guest areas.

Engines and performance

Power comes from two 2,200 hp MAN V12 engines driving two Castoldi TurboDrive 600 HCT waterjets rather than propellers. On the yard's preliminary figures, she has a top speed of 35 knots and cruises at 30.

The first hull is fitted with two Seakeeper 18 gyro stabilisers; the project specification lists twin Seakeeper NG18s as an option. She is certified CE Category A. The yard has not published fuel capacity, range or displacement.

Who is she for?

The GTX90 is for buyers who want to stay under 30 metres yet cruise at around 30 knots with a great deal of open deck. The fold-out terraces, aft cockpit and sportbridge are designed for days at anchor, and the double garage means tender and personal watercraft travel together. Four en-suite cabins and two crew cabins linked to the galley suit owners who will run her with a small professional crew. Waterjet drive calls for different handling and maintenance habits from a propeller-driven yacht. As the yard has not published consumption or range, both should be measured on a sea trial, and berthing and crew planning should be settled alongside the purchase.

In brief

  • A new 27.97-metre GTX model, designed by Vallicelli Design with Ferretti Group's Engineering Department.
  • Fold-out side terraces put maximum beam in the cockpit and take the aft deck to 37 m²; the sportbridge measures 33 m².
  • A double garage, a first for GTX models under 100 feet, carries a tender and a personal watercraft together.
  • Twin 2,200 hp MAN V12s and Castoldi waterjets give 35 knots flat out and a 30-knot cruise on preliminary figures.
