The 27XP is a new 26.97-metre (88 ft 6 in) addition to the XP explorer range from Numarine, the Istanbul yard. She made her world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival, where the yard's 39.42-metre 40MXP made her European debut. Numarine says five hulls have been sold and three are under construction. The first was delivered in Istanbul to a returning Numarine client moving up from a 22XP, who plans to cruise the Greek islands and the wider Aegean. Hulls two and three are due in the coming months.

The 27XP is the next step on from the 26XP platform, of which 30 hulls are now cruising worldwide, with more interior volume and larger outside living areas. Can Yalman designed both exterior and interior, and Umberto Tagliavini drew the naval architecture. Hull and superstructure are GRP, the hull is a displacement form, and she is rated CE Category A. The yard quotes a build time of eight months.

Exterior and decks

The first hull was delivered in the four-cabin layout, which gives priority to a full-beam flybridge and generous outside space. Numarine describes the flybridge as one of the largest in its class. At the bow, a raised area holds a sunpad and a forward-facing lounge. The aft deck, with ample seating and direct access from the saloon, is planned as the yacht's main social space.

Oversized windows bring daylight deep into the interior. A sliding glass door aft and side-opening doors connect the saloon to the cockpit and side decks.

Layout and cabins

The 27XP is offered in two layouts. The four-cabin version sleeps eight guests. The full-beam master suite has been enlarged over the previous model to take a generous bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe. The VIP cabin on the lower deck has larger windows, more volume and its own bathroom. The five-cabin option replaces the main-deck wheelhouse with a VIP cabin, raising capacity to ten guests. Both layouts provide two crew cabins for four crew.

The galley is designed with a private chef and professional crew in mind, with high-end appliances, long worktops and provision storage for extended passages.

Silent at anchor: the Mk2 Super Silent Pack

The 27XP introduces Numarine's Mk2 Super Silent Pack, developed with Sleipner. It is built on a 48-volt DC architecture, which the yard says allows lighter cabling and lower weight and energy losses. At its centre sits Sleipner's Hybrid Power Center, which brings together power taken from the main engines (PTO), solar panels and shore power, and handles load management.

Energy is stored in a 92.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery bank, and the solar panels are rated at 5.6 kW. The main engines supply 10 kW of charging at idle and up to 50 kW under way. Stabilisers, thrusters and station-keeping also run from the 48-volt system, without the generator having to run continuously. Numarine says the yacht can stay generator-free at anchor by day and by night, and that Sleep Mode allows a full night at anchor with air conditioning and stabilisers running. No figure has been published for how many hours the battery lasts.

Engines and range

Standard power is a pair of 560 bhp MAN D2676 LE 438 engines, giving a top speed of 13.5 knots and a range of 2,200 nautical miles at an economical 8 knots. The model page quotes a 12-knot cruise, the press release 10 knots. Twin 1,800 bhp MAN D2862 LE 433 engines are available as an option; the yard's page does not give the speed they deliver.

An 11,000-litre fuel capacity and a 2.12-metre draught suit her to long passages as well as shallow anchorages. Full-load displacement is 92 tonnes.

Who is she for?

The 27XP is for buyers who put range, economy and quiet at anchor ahead of speed. A range of 2,200 nautical miles at 8 knots makes it simple to plan passages from the Aegean to the western Mediterranean, or a change of cruising ground between seasons, without worrying about fuel stops. The battery system is the most tangible difference for owners who spend their nights in a bay and would rather not hear a generator. Buyers stepping across from a planing yacht should note the 13.5-knot top speed and plan their cruising around it.

Numarine points to a load line length under 24 metres as making the yacht eligible for owner operation. What that means in practice depends on the flag, how the yacht is used and the skipper's qualifications. Before buying, we recommend settling flag, crew and berthing plans with our broker.
