The Mulder 122 is a new 37.2-metre (122 ft) addition to the superyacht range of the Dutch builder Mulder Shipyard. Nine Mulder ThirtySix yachts have been delivered to date, and the new model carries over that series' proportions and character on a longer hull. The extra length goes into new outdoor spaces, and the yard has reworked a number of details along the way.

Mulder is a long-established family yard. It builds its smaller Favorite motor yachts and superyachts such as the ThirtySix under the same roof. The Mulder 122 brings those two lines together: a yacht built on a proven platform, with each hull designed individually for her owner.

Hull and speed

The Mulder 122 is built on Van Oossanen's patented Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF). The aim is to keep the efficiency of a displacement hull while reaching speeds that are unusual at this size. On the yard's figures she cruises at 15 knots and reaches 17 knots at half load, powered by twin 1,150 hp Caterpillar C18s.

She is classed ABS A1, Commercial Yachting Service, and designed for unrestricted navigation. IMO Tier III and US EPA Tier 4 compliance is available on request.

Foredeck and exterior lines

The foredeck has been redesigned from scratch, with a large lounge area and twin sunpads further forward. On many series yachts this part of the deck is little more than a passageway; on the Mulder 122 it is an outdoor living space in its own right.

Other changes alter her appearance: a newly designed mast, revised glazing towards the bow and a number of subtler adjustments. The yard says these give the yacht a fresh identity, while the familiar ThirtySix proportions remain.

Stern and swim platform

The added length shows most clearly at the stern. An extended swim platform makes it easier to get into the water and board the tender at anchor. The twin stairways from the aft deck have a gentler incline and now follow the lines of the stern more naturally.

Tender garage, side decks and wheelhouse

A transverse tender garage takes a 6.25-metre tender, two full-size jet skis, Seabobs, diving gear and kayaks. The side decks are more than 80 cm wide, with teak caprails, which lets the crew work safely along the length of the yacht on long passages.

The wheelhouse is generous; the yard describes it as the place where owner and crew hold their meetings. There are five screens in the wheelhouse and two at the flybridge helm. Stabilisation comes from CMC HS120 stabilisers with a fin area of 2.35 m², and hydraulic bow and stern thrusters rated at 1,000 kgf assist with manoeuvring.

Who is she for?

The Mulder 122 suits buyers who want the volume and economy of a displacement yacht without giving up a cruising speed of around 15 knots. ABS class and an unrestricted-navigation design give a sound basis for owners who plan to cruise beyond the Mediterranean or run the yacht commercially. The transverse tender garage and wide side decks are practical for families who move from bay to bay and bring their water toys with them. The yard designs each interior individually and welcomes owners' own designers, so layout decisions are best settled at contract stage. On a 37-metre yacht with six crew, berthing and maintenance planning should be agreed alongside the purchase.
