The Navetta 35 is a new 34.5-metre (113 ft 2 in) addition to Custom Line's displacement Navetta range. She made her world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival and was then shown at the Monaco Yacht Show; the yard says five units have been sold since her debut. Part of Ferretti Group, Custom Line builds made-to-measure displacement and planing yachts between 30 and 50 metres and has delivered more than 400 to date.

The project was developed by Ferretti Group's Strategic Product Committee and Engineering Department. Exterior styling is by the architect Filippo Salvetti and interior architecture by ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, with Custom Line Atelier overseeing the interior styling.

Exterior and decks

Spread over three decks, she offers more than 300 m² of interior and exterior space. The lines along the topsides give the hull a sporty tension, while the shape of the stern and the continuity of the surfaces tie the yacht visually to the water.

Her signature is glazing that all but erases the line between inside and out, with full-height windows running from stern to bow along both sides. There is no external staircase aft on either the main or the upper deck, which clears the aft areas of obstructions and turns the main-deck aft deck into the social hub of the yacht. The sun deck is reached from the upper deck by a passageway forward on the starboard side, and an interior staircase, concealed within the design, links the main deck to the sun deck. The arrangement keeps the sun deck more private.

Interior

Inside, flowing spaces and organic shapes are furnished with freestanding pieces designed by Antonio Citterio. Raised off the floor, they appear to float, which adds to the sense of lightness. For the first hull, ACPV devised a warm scheme of ivory, beige and caramel with Pietra di Vicenza stone, pale wooden floors and sand-coloured leather.

Cabins and crew

The Navetta 35 sleeps ten guests in five cabins. The master suite is on the main deck, and four guest cabins on the lower deck are reached through a private lobby. Guest and crew circulation are kept separate, and the crew have four cabins.

Engines and range

Standard power is a pair of 1,400 hp MAN V12s. On the yard's preliminary figures, she reaches 15 knots flat out and cruises at 12, with a range of 1,750 nautical miles at an economical 10 knots. The optional twin 1,622 hp CAT C32s lift top speed to 16 knots.

She is designed ready for an SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system that cuts NOx emissions by 70 per cent, in line with IMO Tier III. The large engine room is laid out for easy access to the engines and systems, and a full-load draught of 2.2 metres lets her into sheltered bays and shallow water.

Who is she for?

The Navetta 35 is for buyers who value range, quiet and volume over speed, and who plan to spend long stretches on board. A 12-knot cruise and 1,750 nautical miles at 10 knots make long Mediterranean passages, or a change of cruising ground between seasons, straightforward. The main-deck master and crew circulation kept apart from guest areas matter to owners who will run her with a professional crew. On a yacht of around 35 metres, crew, berthing and maintenance planning should be settled alongside the purchase.

In brief

  • Custom Line's new displacement yacht premiered at the Cannes Yachting Festival; five units have been sold.
  • No external staircase aft on the main or upper deck, making the aft deck the social heart of the yacht.
  • Ten guests in five cabins, with the master on the main deck and four crew cabins.
  • With the standard MAN engines, range is 1,750 nm at 10 knots, and she is SCR-ready.
