The Magellano 27M is a new 26.2-metre (85 ft 11 in) model in Azimut's long-range Magellano series. She slots between the 25.2-metre Magellano 25M and the 29.7-metre Magellano 30M and made her world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival. Azimut calls her the "third chapter" of the series and a reinterpretation of its Voyager philosophy.

The design comes from two names: exterior by the Finnish designer Jarkko Jämsén of Navia Design, interior by the architect Michele De Lucchi and his studio AMDL CIRCLE.

Exterior

Jämsén's starting point is a bare shape meant to experience nature rather than dominate it. At the heart of the profile is what Azimut calls "the loop", a ring-like line that joins crisp industrial edges to flowing surfaces shaped to catch the reflections of sky and sea. The wooden louvres familiar from the Magellano series sit alongside Nordic restraint and hint at the interior that awaits.

Main deck: a loggia on the sea

The main deck is the centre of the project. Azimut describes it as a large loggia facing the sea: a bright volume framed by wooden architectural elements that recall Mediterranean pergolas and courtyards. Pale wood on walls, ceilings and furniture softens the hard light of open water, producing a space that feels both luminous and intimate.

Three main-deck layouts are offered: Total Lounge, Al Fresco Dining and Grand Living. The yacht is arranged over three levels: flybridge, main deck and lower deck.

Interior

AMDL CIRCLE and Michele De Lucchi approached the interior with travel in mind not only as adventure and discovery but as a search for well-being and a sense of self. In the master cabin, the headboard wall is treated as a work in its own right, upholstered in fabric from Hosoo, which has been hand-weaving in Kyoto for more than three centuries. De Lucchi drew the pattern by magnifying the cross-section of a tree trunk.

Hull and engines

The Magellano 27M uses what Azimut calls a Dual Mode semi-planing hull, developed by P.L. Ausonio Naval Architecture with Azimut's R&D department, and is built in GRP. There are two engine options: twin 1,400 mhp MANs give up to 21 knots, twin 1,650 mhp MANs up to 23–24 knots. Cruising speed is up to 16–18 knots. Those figures place her as a long-range yacht that can still pick up the pace when needed, rather than a slow displacement cruiser.

Who is she for?

The Magellano 27M suits buyers in the 25–30 metre range looking for a five-cabin yacht, run with crew and built for long passages. Ten berths in five cabins make extended time aboard with family or a larger group of friends realistic. The semi-planing hull is a middle course for owners who want to cruise economically but keep some speed in reserve. And for anyone after a warm, wood-rich interior with a residential feel, De Lucchi's approach sets her apart from the rest of the series.
